Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit edtaxcredit.org and sign up for updates about the scholarship tax credit.

Effective October 5, 2026

1Who we are

The Tax Credits for Education website at edtaxcredit.org (the "Site") is operated by Spark Learning, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

The Site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

2What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out a form on the Site, we collect what you enter. Depending on the form, that may include your first name, email address, state, the type of scholarship you would like to support, the amount you plan to give, your interest in the tax credit, and your mobile number. You can choose not to share this information, but we will not be able to send you updates without it.

Calculator answers

The tax credit calculator runs in your browser. The income, filing status, and number of children you choose are used only to show your estimate on screen. We do not save or receive those answers.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, general location based on your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, links clicked, the site that referred you, and the ad or campaign that brought you to us.

3How we use your information

  • To send the email and text updates you request, including reminders about when and how to give once the federal credit opens.
  • To share your interest and giving preferences with our partner scholarship granting organization so it can help you give and receive the documents you need to claim a credit.
  • To understand how people use the Site and to improve its content and design.
  • To measure and improve our advertising and outreach.
  • To prevent fraud and misuse, enforce our policies, and protect the rights and safety of our users, our team, and others.
  • To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests from government agencies.

We may also publish anonymized, combined information, such as overall trends in how the Site is used, that does not identify you.

4Text messages

Text messaging is a separate choice. We only send texts if you check the text message box on our form. Giving us your mobile number or signing up for email does not sign you up for texts.

By opting in, you agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Tax Credits for Education at the number you provide. Consent is not a condition of giving. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or text messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. We share it only with the service providers that send messages on our behalf, or when required by law.

5Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar tools to make the Site work, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and measure our outreach.

We may use Google Analytics to measure site use, and advertising tools such as the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tags to measure how our ads perform and show our ads to people who may be interested. These tools may share online identifiers and your activity on the Site with those platforms.

  • You can set your browser to refuse cookies. Some parts of the Site may not work properly without them.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and manage Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
  • You can manage ad preferences in your Meta account settings.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. The Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

6How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here.

  • Our partner scholarship granting organization, so it can follow up on your interest, process your gift, and send your receipt.
  • Service providers that work on our behalf, such as website hosting, form processing, email and text messaging, customer relationship management, and analytics. They may use your information only to provide services to us and may not use it for their own marketing.
  • Advertising platforms, as described in Section 5.
  • Other organizations, only with your consent, so they can contact you directly. Your mobile number and text consent are never shared this way.
  • Legal and safety reasons, such as complying with a law, subpoena, or court order, investigating fraud or misuse, or protecting the rights and safety of others.
  • Business transfers, if Spark Learning, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Your information would remain subject to this policy unless you are notified of a new one.

Links to other websites, including our scholarship partners, are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

California residents

We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months and will not sell it in the future. Under California's "Shine the Light" law, you may ask once a year, free of charge, for information about any personal information we shared with third parties for their direct marketing in the prior year. Send your request in writing to the address in Section 12.

Residents of other states may have similar rights under their state's privacy laws. We will honor those rights as required.

8Security and how long we keep information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, and the Site uses a secure (HTTPS) connection. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep your information as long as needed to send the updates you asked for and to meet our legal, reporting, and business needs. After that, we delete it or remove details that identify you.

9Children

The Site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us.

10Governing law

This policy and any privacy disputes related to the Site are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we may also let you know by email.
